Q: With social hotspot®, will you collect information about phone contacts, messages sent, texts or emails?

A: No, social hotspot® does not collect such information.

Q: What is the smartphone M.A.C address?

A: Media Access Control or M.A.C. address is a number used by network adapters to uniquely identify them. Every desktop, laptop, tablet and smart phone has its own unique M.A.C. address that helps to identify that device. The M.A.C. address contains no personally identifiable information about the owner of the device, just about the device itself; thus keeping the owner anonymous.

Q: Do I have to use social hotspot® guest WiFi at the venue?

A: No, we cannot force a person to access your guest WiFi. The terms & conditions of your venue’s free guest WiFi will be available to a potential user and stipulate all details in regards to accessing and using the free guest WiFi before log in takes place.

Q: What data is social hotspot® collecting?

A: The guest WiFi user will by default provide the M.A.C. address and information requested during splash-page login process (for example gender, age, email address).

Q: How much does social hotspot® cost?

Q: Is there are social hotspot® set-up / configuration fee?

A: Yes, there is a one-time configuration fee at the start of the subscription period. Each access point is configured and programmed to your specifications.

Q: How do I determine the best service package for my location?

A: It is important to assess your circumstance, needs and goals. That is why we will meet with you before making any recommendations on the number of access points and service package for you.

Q: What data is social hotspot® collecting?

A: The guest WiFi user will by default provide the M.A.C. address and information requested during splash-page login process (e.g. gender, age, email address).

Q: Can social hotspot® access personal data when using the social hotspot®?

A: No, we do not collect personal data beyond the information provided during the login process.

Q: How do I know whether my social hotspot® working properly?

A: As a managed hotspot, we will be constantly monitoring and managing the network status for you.

Q: What happens in case the hardware is faulty?

A: We offer a lifetime warranty on all WiFi gear and will replace those in case those are broken or non-usable due to a technical defect.

Q: Which telecom provider do you support in order to operate social hotspot®?

A: social hotspot® is agnostic to the telecom company which provides your fiber-broadband service.
